Lightsabers
Lightsabers and the Y-Wing are the only figures from my book that start with paper other than a square. The lightsabers were fun to create. Once again I was able to use the properties of paper colored differently on both sides to add depth to the figure. Next came the dilemma. There are two styles of light sabers used in the original Trilogy. Vader's red and Luke's blue saber have angled blade emitters. Obi-Wan's blue and Luke's green saber have emitters which look more like satellite dishes. I didn't want to put separate chapters in the book for each one because the difference between the figures is only 2 folds. Yet I didn't want to exclude one or the other. In the end I decided to use both and lay them out side by side. It works well in the book and now I can sleep at night.

The lightsaber is the weapon of the Jedi Knights. It consists of a handle about a foot long, which creates a solid blade of light about 4 feet long. The blade is capable of slicing through anything it touches. A Jedi can even use it to deflect blaster fire.

Obi-Wan Kenobi said the lightsaber is "... not as clumsy or random as a blaster, an elegant weapon of a more civilized age".
